campsite faqs

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at 11am daily. 

**Please note: there is no access to the bathrooms during our daily cleaning window, so plan ahead if you're leaving early.**

 

Our reception is manned from 7am until 9pm, if for whatever reason you are held up and will be arriving after 9pm please give us a call on 07551820022 and we will advise you on the best course of action.

Yes, we take bookings for hardstanding pitches with and without electric. You can book here.

No, we only take booking for hardstanding pitches with or without electric. Our grass-pitches are simply reserved on arrival - we rarely have to turn people away but if you want a spot with the best view we advise arriving as close to check-in time (3pm) as possible!

Yes, generally we can accommodate those who want to spend an extra next or two but please note in peak season we may have limited availability for electric pitches.

As our terms and conditions state, we are happy to offer a full refund on your pre-booking if you cancel 14 days prior to your stay. We are unable to offer refunds on cancellations within 14 days of your stay. We recommend taking out your own travel insurance in case you should have any travel disruptions (particularly if you are relying on ferries).

Yes! We are happy to accept dogs but ask that they are kept on a lead and any messes are cleaned up.

Yes - we offer free WiFi. Speeds may vary depending on usage and weather, but it’s perfect for checking the forecast or planning your next adventure.

Yes, we have 24/7 charging ports available at our laundry area. 

Yes! We have on-site washing and drying facilities that cost £4 per cycle. We can provide coins for the washers and dryers if needed.

There’s newspaper available to stuff inside wet hiking boots, and you’re welcome to leave your boots in the laundry room to dry overnight.

We’re happy to freeze small items for you (ice blocks, baby milk, etc.) - just ask at reception.

Yes, the gate is closed in the evening for safety - but it’s not locked, so you can come and go if needed.

Fires are allowed as long as they are raised off the ground and fully contained. Please don’t burn the grass - bring a fire pit!

Yes - you can, we have a designated cooking area located next to reception to avoid damaging the grass.

We don’t sell gas on site, you purchase camping gas and other camping essentials at Inside Out in Portree.

Bookings for 2026 will open in October 2025. Feel free to email us and we’ll do our best to help if you have a 2026 enquiry.

Can I use facilities if I’m not staying - even if I pay?

We are not able to offer services such as showers or the disposal of chemical / grey water waste to non-residents. We do not accept payment for the use of such services.

Can we park at the campsite if we are non resident - even if we pay?

As we do not have dedicated parking spaces on site, we are unable to offer parking (even for a fee) for non residents.

 

blackhouse faqs

Check-in is from 4pm, and check-out is by 10am. We ask for a punctual check-out so we can get the accommodation ready for the next guests. If you arrive early, feel free to explore the Glen or grab a coffee at our campsite!

We offer a self-service arrival and departure, so you can arrive at your leisure. 7 days before your booking commences, we will email you thorough information for a smooth arrival including a code for the lock-box which will have your key inside.

The kitchen has everything you should need including a hob, oven, large fridge/ freezer, dishwasher and microwave. We also stock cooking essentials like pots, pans, utensils, crockery, and cutlery - so no need to pack the kitchen sink! You’ll just need to bring your own food and any specific extras you can’t live without. We do not stock any basics such as seasoning or oil etc to please bring this with you.

We have a cafetière in each property, perfect for a slow morning coffee with mountain views so please feel free to bring your own ground coffee. We also stock Caora Dubh coffee at the campsite shop if you run low. 

Many people will do a large shop on their way to Skye in either Fort William or Inverness depending on your route. On Skye, there are fairly sizable and well-stocked Co-op supermarkets in Broadford (12 miles South of Sligachan) or Portree (9 miles North of Sligachan).

Unfortunately we do not sit in a catchment for any supermarket deliveries in Sligachan.

Yes! Our water is some of the freshest water around. We have our own private water supply which is maintained and tested regularly. The water passes through a UV filtration system and is safe to drink. You may sometimes notice a yellow-ish tinge to the water if we have had a lot of rain. This can occur due to peat content in the water but it’s totally harmless.

Yes, all linen and towels are provided and your beds will be made up ready for your arrival. We also provide toilet paper.

We provide one complimentary basket of logs and the fire will be set for you upon arrival. Once the basket of logs has been used, you can purchase more logs in most supermarkets and filling stations around the Island.

Yes, we have free Starlink WiFi available in all self-catering properties. Please note that we’re in a rural location, so speeds can vary.

Yes, we have washing machines, tumble dryers and laundry detergent in all self-catering properties.

Yes - our self-catering Blackhouse Cottages and the Lodge have heating to keep you cosy, even on the wildest Skye nights.

Yes - we’re dog-friendly! We welcome a maximum of two dogs in each property per stay. We request a doggy surcharge of £30 per dog which can be added at the time of booking.We also ask that dogs are kept off the furniture and if you have a particularly fluffy friend, keeping on top of any shedding in the accommodation would be appreciated.
