Tacos at the Foot of the Cuillin: Alberto’s at Glen Sligachan Campsite
There aren’t many places in the world where you can bite into a fresh taco while looking out over misty mountains and a Highland river - but that’s exactly what awaits at Alberto’s Tacos, tucked into the heart of Glen Sligachan Campsite on the Isle of Skye.
Run from a cheerful food truck by the water, Alberto’s has quickly become a firm favourite with campers, walkers and road-trippers alike. Whether you’ve just come off the Cuillin ridge, cycled in from Portree, or are simply passing by in search of something tasty and home-cooked - this is where the real magic happens.
At the heart of it all are the tacos: unfussy, flavour-packed, and made with care. Alberto slow-cooks everything himself, layering bold, smoky flavours with crisp slaws, fresh salsas, and sauces made from scratch. There are plenty of veggie and gluten-free options too, and every order is made fresh while you wait.
Grab a picnic bench or sprawl out on the grass beside the stream. With the Black Cuillin rising behind you and Loch Sligachan stretching out in front, it’s one of the most memorable meals you’ll find on Skye.
